Sometimes I really am a sucker for punishment. Two weeks after the birth of my first child, I am now upping and moving on to the biggest, most challenging role of my career to date as the Head of Social Media at PayPal UK!
PayPal is in a very interesting position at the moment as their product offering inevitably moves into mobile and into the ‘real world’ making it a much more social offering and brand, so it is an exciting time to be involved in the business. I am looking forward to embracing this environment to come up with some innovative campaigns and ideas.
I am also looking forward to using the opportunity to get about more in the London (and San Jose / San Fran!) Social Media scene and catch up with my peers, some that I haven’t seen in ages.
I had a wonderful year and a half at Gumtree and learnt more than I have in any job before it. The Gumtree team allowed me to do a lot of cool projects. I think my biggest sense of accomplishment here is being the guy that enabled Gumtree to start a conversation with its community and show that there are humans behind the company and we do value them.
Hopefully you will be hearing a lot more from me and PayPal in the next few months!
